Bryan L. Allen

It’s rare in life that people find a career that they absolutely love. For over 4 decades Bryan worked as an Aerospace Structural Engineer, but working in aviation wasn’t just a job to him it was his passion. Even when he wasn’t working, Bryan always surrounded himself with airplanes, whether it was the dozens of pictures and model planes that adorned the walls in his home, teaching his children about the particular plane they flew on during vacations, or looking up at EVERY plane that flew by and always having a story to share about it. Bryan found gratification in the many accomplishments he achieved as an Aerospace Structural Engineer, and while Bryan was proud of his job nothing gave him more pride than his family.

As a husband, a brother, a father, an uncle, a “PawPaw” and a friend, Bryan received the most joy being around those he loved. Although he would tell you he is more of an introvert, and not much of a social butterfly, it is impossible to deny he was always there for those he cared about. Even-though Bryan liked dry wit and sarcasm, it was through his generosity, charity and selflessness that he was able to express his love. To know the people that he cherished were happy gave him peace of mind. Our lives will never be the same, but we’ll keep his memory close to us forever and continue to live our lives honoring his.

Forever Cherished

Deemed “PawPaw” Bryan welcomed his first grandchild Nolan in August of 2021.

Forever Loved

Bryan and his wife Berta celebrated their 37 year wedding anniversary in December of 2021. They loved going to Mariners games together. Bryan especially loved the souvenir hats.

Forever Missed

Bryan and his brother Albert are pictured above visiting their grandfathers plane, one they rode in together when they were children.

A Letter to Bryan

Dear Bryan,

You have been my everything for 45 years. When we first met, you were quiet and incredibly shy, never saying more than a few words at a time, but you took a chance and reached out to me and changed my life. You have been my best life and have given me more joy, laughter, love and friendship that any one person deserves.

We have been so blessed, our children are our greatest accomplishment that we have given to this world. We comfort each other everyday and cling so tightly to your memory. Through our tears we still see you when the hummingbirds come to feed or when an airplane passes by. Although we hear each other’s cries we hear your voice in the wind chimes and in the voice mails you left us. Our hearts are broken and although we feel immense sadness it’s only because we have felt incredible joy with you. Know that your life, love and friendships touched so many and your memory will continue to live on within those who cared for you the most.

Someone we both loved always said: “We’ll see each other when we’re suppose to.” -Virgil Adams

Until then my love,
Berta

“..And when this dirty world has been cold to you
I got two strong arms waitin' to hold you
And when those mean days come along
We'll stand together and we'll take 'em on
So if you need me, just call my name

When you need me, call my name
'Cause without you, my life just isn't the same
'Cause when this world kicked me around
Baby, you picked me up off the ground
So if you need me, I'll be there”

“I don't know why I am asking for more; you gave me more than I could have reasonably wanted. Everything from food and shelter to a fifth video game console. You helped teach me to be genuine and giving, calm and caring. Yet, here I am asking for more time with you, more opportunities to hear your voice, more chances to make you laugh, more moments to be calmed by your presence. While I don't think I will stop asking for more, I do think I will find comfort in looking back at everything you have given to me. Love you..”

“He never looked for praises, He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working, For those he loved the most

His dreams were seldom spoken, His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries, would go unspoken too

He was always there…. A firm foundation, Through all our storms of life,
A sturdy hand to hold to, In times of stress and strife

A true person we could turn to, When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings, whom we’ll never forget my forever, my hero, my Dad.

“While I am sad, I am happy that something can make me feel so sad. The only way I can feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before.”

Donations

Bryan had many passions in life, these three foundations are ones chosen by the family that best represent him. Thank you in advance for choosing to make a donation in Bryan’s honor.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Bryan hiked sections of the Appalachian Trail with his good friend Joe Cook, it was always a fond memory of his. Donating to keep this trail active would make him very happy.

The Gary Sinise Foundation

Bryan donated to this foundation yearly and the family will continue to do so on his behalf. With military ties to the family, Bryan has always loved giving back to those who have served.

National Association of Rocketry

One of Bryan’s most beloved hobbies was creating and launching model rockets. This Association is one of the oldest and largest charities that support youth education, and the advancement of technology in the hobby of spacemodeling.
